Our Genre Foundation classes are designed to help dancers build a strong understanding of specific dance styles through focused technique training and skill development. These classes allow students to explore the unique movements, terminology, musicality, and performance qualities of each genre while strengthening their overall versatility and confidence as dancers.

  • Pointe: This class is held Monday 6:45–7:30 and is designed for dancers who have demonstrated the strength, technique, and readiness required for pointe work. Students will focus on proper alignment, foot and ankle strength, balance, control, and technique while progressing safely in pointe shoes under instructor guidance.
  • Contemporary (Beginner): This class is held Monday 7:00-7:30 and introduces dancers to the fundamentals of contemporary movement. Students will develop musicality, flexibility, coordination, emotional expression, and performance skills through age-appropriate technique exercises.
  • Tap (Beginner): This class is held Monday 7:30–8:00 and introduces dancers to the fundamentals of tap dance. Students will develop rhythm, timing, coordination, and musicality while learning basic tap technique, terminology, and footwork through fun exercises and combinations.
  • Lyrical/Contemporary: This class is held Wednesday 7:30–8:15 and focuses on combining technical dance training with emotional expression and storytelling. Dancers will develop fluid movement, artistry, musicality, flexibility, and performance quality while exploring both lyrical and contemporary styles through technique exercises and choreography.
  • Jazz: This class is held Wednesday 8:30–9:15 and focuses on the technique, style, and performance qualities of jazz dance. Dancers will work on flexibility, strength, turns, jumps, musicality, and dynamic movement while learning combinations that emphasize precision, energy, and stage presence.
  • Tap: This class is held Thursday 8:15-9:00 and focuses on developing rhythm, timing, coordination, and musicality through tap dance. Dancers will learn proper tap technique, terminology, and footwork while building confidence and creating clear, precise sounds through exercises, and combinations.

Note: Instructor evaluation required prior to enrollment in these classes.
